Past week I’ve been working on my studio just like this funny guy. I’ve been investing in some really nice gear that will (finally) give me the possibility to multi-track at home. I’ve ordered it all last Sunday and it arrived in the mail Wednesday morning, waiting for that FedEx or UPS van to arrive is such a great way to waste time.
So…what did I get..

Mogami microphone cable, 50 meter, to be divided into 8 cables.

These tiles are exactly 1x1m so measuring the cables was way too easy.

Wire, just tinned, waiting for the last connector.

All wires completely put together. Soldered with gold plated Neutriks. They’re hanging on 1 of the 2 new big overhead microphone stands, these are way sturdier than expected, they weigh like 3 times as much as a standard size ones, great.

This the new interface by Metric Halo. It will give me 8 in-outputs, with the possibility to bypass the pre-amps and only use the converters for a/d d/a conversion. It’s DSP packed so it will be able to calculate all the effects I want to put on my tracks, it also has endless routing possibilties in the box. It’s very portable, hence the name mobile i/o, and will run on firewire bus power. It is quite compicated though…I’ve been reading the manual every metro ride I took last week.

The new matched condenser mics. I’ll be using these for drum overheads and other stereo sources or acoustic guitars, lush high-end and and very tight lows….

The old tape deck, I’ll be hooking this one up for tape delays since only the left channel is still working.
Next: putting ‘feet’ on my acoustic baffle to get some separation during tracking, the problem is I can’t find the saw anywhere….I also should get those velcro strips to bind the cables together.
Hope to post be recordings and demo’s sooooooon….
This is my dog, the sweetest in the world, her name is Centa she’s eleven years old and she’s a kooiker dog. When I started this blog I never thought I’d post pictures of her over here but today she was showing me her best looks (with some help). She’s always on my memory sticks because I always try to get her funny expressions but most of the time I fail and the photo’s are pretty boring. These where shot right before we started dinner and she was all excited and begging for food as always. My girlfriend, Ruby, is giving the necessary massages/instructions. More after the link.

Still setting up a darkroom, so I still don’t have any new work. This week goes out to, who is, probably our southern neighbors best photo journalist; John Vink.
This shot is of a hobo traveling by freight train, back in the year we were born, 1986. Check out this link for more.

I recorded this song at home this afternoon, written and performed by Mick Sarria.

Fresh croissants, Italian coffee and Jimi Hendrix…. Maus sure knows how to treat his friends, last Thursday morning was a lot of fun. We’re building a wall…that’s all. You can download the HD version at Vimeo.
